Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas raised the possibility of Ilonggos experiencing another "blended" version of the Dinagyang Festival, November 23.

Though nothing has been finalized, he mentioned that the January 14 to 23, 2022 event would feature classic live events and possibly spectators.

"If we have spectators, they would have to be fully vaccinated, and we will look at having them tested," said Treñas in a phone interview with the Daily Guardian.

Furthermore, he stressed that the city would be scrutinizing COVID and vaccination data in the coming weeks to determine courses of action for the following year's festival.

"While we have a high [COVID-19] vaccination rate in the city, other provinces are not at par, and we are already encouraging booster shots for senior citizens and those with co-morbidities," he added.
